Comments: "So it seems you've been practicing..." --"Sheosh!" You can find me, and several other hard-core traditional lovers of The Arts, here in the state of Virginia; training at Khan's Martial Arts Academy (Burke, VA). Of course, some of us train and compete outside the school as well as in it, but that's another story... "Well, if you can defeat me, I'll let you be my teacher." --"Onushi ja yaku busokuja." --Shaggy

Comments: Hello there, I am the instructor (Peter, not Sensei!) of this small club in West Yorkshire. I am less interested in oriental tradition, but am greatly interested in practical combat skills which will work at "street" level. I do respect the old masters, both oriental and western and feel that by concentrating on combat efficiency, I am remaining true to the traditional principles of Jujitsu.

Comments: Hi! Today I started a Martial Arts course through Montclair State University. I will be learning a mixture of Tae Kwon Doe, TAi Chi, and HaIkdo (i don't know if I'm spelling these terms correctly). Anyway, I am also into Yoga! I am very excited about learning Martial Arts both as a form of self-defense and also for keeping my mind, body and spirit healthy and in tune. I'm interested in any films that depict Martial Arts and any specific people who were and still are influential to the Martial Arts. Thank you very much Catherine Hilton

Comments: While I believe your extensive subject matter provides a service to those seeking a degree of self-defense training, I wonder why its associated with a classical martial A R T -- not involving weapons nor grappling. Has the American W A Y replaced the traditional DO with muti-level belts, Do Boks, and self-promotion? I think, to a great extent, it has -- much to my disappointment. As Kyo Sa for a non-profit municipally sponsored Martial Arts (Tang Soo Do) program, it is easier for me to espouse a traditional curriculum without worrying how the rent will be paid. I still participate in tournaments to stay in shape and keep an edge, but I am saddened by the burgeoning and money-making subdivisions of Tang Soo Do Organizations who feel the need to change the uniforms and the techniques handed down by Grand Master Hwang Kee. I can understand one's group (as my teachers did) leaving the Federation for it's heavy-handedness -- but is it really necessary to create a new organization so that one might call himself "Grand Master"? I have even seen Kwan Jang Nim referred to as "Supreme Grand Master" to accomodate the many who wish to be "Grand". In order to see Tang Soo Do preserved, I accept those things over which I have no control -- I just refuse to embrace them.

Comments: My family is relocating to the San Diego area. Most likely within comutable distance to a job in Rancho Bernardo, possibly buying a home Ramona, Valley Center, or Temecula. I am looking for a kempo karate school for my soon to be green belt daughter and I (purple) to continue to train. We are currently with Rosas Kempo Karate in Chino Hills and will be moving sometime after 6/00. Any leads would be appreciated. Thanks.
